Family Portraits ~ The Mcfarlans
There is such a special sweetness in being able to participate in creation.

It's 6:30 the sun is still pretty high in the sky. We all arrive. The parking lot is full of people all dressed up. Hair and makeup on point. Everyone in matching clothes. Golden hour is fast approaching. As families nervously look for their photographer they each are rounded up and herded to the beach. I spot Lisa and Justin. I've photographed her before. Justin arranged this a long time ago. A birthday surprise for Lisa. She is very pregnant and is simply glowing. As she changes into the dress she will shoot in I get to know Justin a little bit. We chat and Lisa comes out looking amazing. A pretty turquoise dress with a flowing skirt that parts so the belly can be freed. It's perfect. The sun is inching down the sky. We take a couple shots and head down the beach. While the sun is still too high I pose them by the dunes then walking down the beach. We shoot for a while until the sun is in the perfect position and that's when magic starts to happen. The sky turns pink and blue. Tints of orange in there as well. The blue of the water mixing with the blue of Lisa's dress. I don't even need to edit these shots. Nature is perfect and she is as fluid as the water she is standing in. She is constantly looking at Justin and the smile is amazing. I can feel the love they have for one another. I love doing this. Photography is in my soul. It is my art. My way to find beautiful in the world.
