Lunches with Leah ~ Lindsay Havlicek Bell
She is free in her wildness, she is a wanderess, a drop of free water. She knows nothing of borders and cares nothing for rules or customs. ‘Time’ for her isn’t something to fight against. Her life flows clean, with passion, like fresh water.

I’ve been following Lindsay on Instagram for a couple of years now. I love her vibe, her words of wisdom and mostly her photography. If you don’t follow her already, you absolutely should. Follow her here: www.instagram.com/lindsayhavlicekbell So, I’ve been wanting to meet up with Lindsay for quite a long time. I just had a feeling we’d connect. When I thought up my lunches with Leah series, she was right up on the top of my list of people to interview.

Lunch wasn’t really on the agenda for today so we made it a coffee date instead! She suggested Amavida Coffee in the Market Shops at Sandestin, and that was a great choice for sure! We found a little table out front and set up shop. Lindsay with her story, Bodie with his lego game, me with my notebook, in which I wrote, the letters, NY and the titles of two books Lindsay recommended to me. Yup, I am really good at taking notes.

I believe she arrived here in Santa Rosa Beach pretty much the same way we all did. On purpose! Her and her husband had spent 3 days here and just new it was going to be home. Born a northerner she spent most of her life in different parts of New York and a lot in the mountains. She was a competitive skier. She landed in New Hampshire with a PhD and 9-5 job or whatever 60+ hours a week equals out to. She wasn’t happy, in fact she was miserable. When she was pregnant with Bodie she decided she wasn’t going to do that anymore. Both her and her husband quit their jobs and were like hmmm now what? Go back home to NY? Nah, that’s too easy. They weren’t tied to anywhere so they seized this opportunity for freedom. To be able to live life not being tied to one place. They were free to wander and they decided to do just that. #wanderwherethewifiisweak is Lindsay’s hashtag and I find it fits her perfectly. She’s a wanderer and she prefers to be outside in nature. Santa Rosa Beach was the perfect fit for her and I feel she is a perfect fit for Santa Rosa Beach. Sandy toes, salty hair and the bikini as a uniform she’s created the life she wants for her and her family.

Promoting a healthy lifestyle, being true to yourself and protecting nature is what Lindsey is all about. She has used her platform to promote this healthy way of life, to live outside the box, and to live like you mean it. She is not only a PhD but a photographer and more recently, she has begun an affiliation with Kangen Water. Their message and purpose fits perfectly with hers. I meet a lot of people in my life. Rarely do I find someone that thinks the same way that I do. When Lindsay was talking to me today, I kept hearing my thoughts come out of her mouth and that’s a pretty cool thing to have happen. I think I just made a new friend today. I found a kindred spirit in Lindsay and I think that’s pretty damn cool.
